Free As A Bird – Moptop Monologues
Back in 2023, Act Your Age Productions put a call out for writers to submit a Beatles-related monologue to be filmed, as part of the 60th anniversary of The Beatles’ debut single, Love Me Do. I already had a short story linked to the Fab Four which was written for a Big Finish Doctor Who competition. I wasn’t able to finish that story in time so I adapted it into a shortened monologue and submitted it to Act Your Age, thinking nothing would come of it. Well, wasn’t I pleasantly surprised when I learned that Free As A Bird was one of a handful accepted! So, here is the monologue, filmed and performed by the fantastic Julie Root. Maybe one day I’ll finish the original story.
Toppermost
Toppermost is a fantastic website where you can share your Top Ten recommendations from a music artist, though the criteria is only one list per artist so you need to check that your favourite band or musician hasn’t been covered first.

And then in Episode 72, I was lucky enough to sit in on an interview between podcast host, Mark Fisher, and former XTC drummer, Terry Chambers ahead of his appearance with his band, EXTC, at Edinburgh’s The Voodoo Rooms.
